Fore the Love of Downtown Golf Scramble Turns a Day on the Course Into Holiday Magic in Tipp City

What does a round of golf in October have to do with Christmas in downtown Tipp City? Quite a bit, if the Downtown Tipp City Partnership has anything to say about it. DTCP will host its Fore the Love of Downtown Golf Scramble on Friday, October 2, at Homestead Golf Course, with proceeds supporting community holiday programming in downtown Tipp City. The idea behind the fundraiser is simple: create a really fun day on the golf course and use it to help make the holiday experiences families enjoy in downtown Tipp City possible.

“When families come downtown for the parade, the tree lighting and all of the holiday experiences happening throughout the season, we want so much of that programming to remain accessible to the entire community,” said Tasha Weaver, Executive Director of the Downtown Tipp City Partnership. “This scramble gives people a really fun way to be part of making that happen. You can spend a Friday golfing with your friends or coworkers and then bring your family downtown at Christmas and know that you helped create some of that magic.” And DTCP is putting an unmistakably festive spin on the traditional golf outing. Golfers can expect breakfast, Holiday Transfusions and Jingle Juice, interactive sponsor holes, Holiday Magic Packs, raffles, a 50/50 drawing, Glizzy at the Turn, games, food and surprises throughout the day.

DTCP has dubbed it “The Most Fun Golf Scramble in Miami County,” and Weaver says the organization intends to live up to the name. “We didn't want to put together another golf outing where you play 18 holes, eat lunch and go home,” Weaver said. “If we're asking people to come out and support downtown, we want them to have a great time doing it. There are going to be surprises throughout the course, and we're definitely leaning into the fact that we're raising money for Christmas.” Check-in begins at 9 a.m., with a 10 a.m. start at Homestead Golf Course, 5327 Worley Road in Tipp City. The event is already receiving support from local businesses and organizations. Main Street Financial Group – Thrivent has stepped forward as the event's Presenting Sponsor, while Coldwater Cafe is sponsoring breakfast. Current sponsors also include Abbey Credit Union, Repacorp Inc., Monroe Federal Savings and Loan, Katie Chamberlain Photography and Park National Bank as hole sponsors, with the Tipp City Chamber of Commerce supporting the event as a prize sponsor. “We are incredibly grateful for the businesses and organizations that have already said yes,” Weaver said. “Sponsorship is what allows a fundraiser like this to actually raise money for its purpose. Every business that sponsors a hole, provides a prize or supports the event is ultimately investing in the experiences we are creating for our community.”

Golfers and Sponsors Still Needed

Registration is currently open, and golfers and additional sponsors are still being accepted. Individuals, businesses, organizations and groups of friends are encouraged to put together a team. DTCP is also continuing to seek businesses interested in sponsorship opportunities, including opportunities to become part of the experience golfers encounter throughout the course. “We want people to have fun with us,” Weaver added. “Come golf. Bring your coworkers. Sponsor something. Get creative with a hole.
