Beyond the Basics: Why The Foodbank Needs Your Oils & Spices
Food drives make a real difference, and items like oils, spices, and condiments are often overlooked, even though they're what makes a meal feel like a meal
๐ง๐ฒ In 2025, less than 0.1% of the 16 million pounds of food distributed by The Foodbank consisted of oils, spices, and condiments. While staples like pasta and canned goods are vital, it's hard to cook a nutritious meal without the basics like salt, pepper, or oil.
How You Can Help
In honor of AmeriCorps Week, we are asking the Dayton community to donate:
- Cooking Oils (Olive, Vegetable, etc.)
- Spices (Salt, Pepper, Garlic Powder, etc.)
- Condiments (Ketchup, Mustard, Mayo, etc.)
