Beyond the Basics: Why The Foodbank Needs Your Oils & Spices

Food drives make a real difference, and items like oils, spices, and condiments are often overlooked, even though they're what makes a meal feel like a meal

🧂🍲 In 2025, less than 0.1% of the 16 million pounds of food distributed by The Foodbank consisted of oils, spices, and condiments. While staples like pasta and canned goods are vital, it's hard to cook a nutritious meal without the basics like salt, pepper, or oil.

How You Can Help

In honor of AmeriCorps Week, we are asking the Dayton community to donate:

  • Cooking Oils (Olive, Vegetable, etc.)
  • Spices (Salt, Pepper, Garlic Powder, etc.)
  • Condiments (Ketchup, Mustard, Mayo, etc.)

When & Where to Give:

📅 March 8–14

📍 If you'd like to help during AmeriCorps Week, donation bins will be located at the following places:

🥫 Spice Paradise

🥫 Rosebud's Real Food at 2nd St Market

🥫 Dots in Centerville and Bellbrook

🥫 6888 Kitchen Incubator

🥫 Xenia Community Library
