Vote for Issue 6 to Support Five Rivers Metroparks

Issue 6 is a replacement of MetroParks’ existing 1.8-mill levy, plus a small increase of 0.2 mills. Based on projections from the County Auditor, Issue 6 would generate about $18.1 million annually. The current levy, originally projected to raise $17.9 Million annually, actually generates less than $15.9 Million. Homeowners currently pay about $4.35 a month. The additional .2 mills will cost around $1.48  per $100,000 in property value per month. Less than the cost of a cup of coffee or a soft drink.

Our local levy is critically important to everything Five Rivers MetroParks does as it makes up about 80% of all annual revenue. Levy funds are used to preserve green space; protect natural resources and the quality of streams and river corridors; provide outdoor recreation opportunities for all ages; keep parks and trails safe and clean; maintain existing facilities; offer a variety of educational programs about nature, history, gardening, and fitness; operate the 2nd Street Market to promote sustainability featuring local growers, food producers, and organic products; and host related outdoor festivals, events, and performances.
