One Day Raku Workshop
When: Saturday September 30th
Time: 5-7:30pm
With: Bruce Grimes
Ages: 18+
Try out this unique pottery experience of firing Raku. In this workshop you will pick from a selection of beautifully hand crafted pots by Bruce, he will lead the class in how to glaze them, and then fire them in the exciting raku kiln. When hot enough you will get to witness pulling the glowing hot pot from the kiln and using a multitude of combustibles to create amazing colors and reactions on the surface of your pot.
The best part? Pots can be taken home right after class! Though Raku fired pots are not food safe, they will make a beautifully unique addition to any collection.
Participants must wear cotton clothing, have hair secured and covered and closed toed shoes for this class as they will be in close quarters with fire. There will also be a great deal of smoke involved so those sensitive to smoke are recommended to wear a mask during the last part of the class.
Participants must follow instructions carefully and join the class at their own risk.
