The Signature: A Poetic Medley Show
The variety show will feature a range of entertainment, including live music, spoken word poetry and dance performances, visual arts, and comedy. The July 12 show, titled "Poetic Soul Fusion,” will feature spoken word poets Jessica Care Moore and Cola Rum, along with a live band performing R&B and jazz with a neo-soul twist.
Jessica Care Moore is the CEO of Moore Black Press, executive producer of Black WOMEN Rock! and founder of the literacy-driven Jess Care Moore Foundation. An internationally renowned poet, playwright, performance artist and producer, she has performed her poems and solo theater shows throughout the United States and Europe and in South Africa. She is a five-time Showtime at the Apollo winner, has been featured on hip-hop star, Nas’ "Nastradamus” album and is a returning star on Russell Simmons’ HBO Series, Def Poetry Jam. Moore’s work is published in several literary collections, and she has been featured in print and online magazines throughout the world. Moore has shared the stage with such performers as Gregory Hines, Norah Jones, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Maya Angelou and many others.
Atlanta-based spoken word poet Cola Rum also will perform. He has appeared on BET’s Lyric Café and has lectured on creative writing at such universities as Vanderbilt, Emory, Michigan state, Morehouse, Tuskegee and the University of Georgia. Cola Run is working on his first novel. This show also will feature The Signature’s favorite house emcee, nationally recognized artist William Evans.
