Ice Skating at Riverscape - 2025-2026 season

The region’s largest outdoor ice skating rink opens Friday, Nov. 28, for season-long, family-friendly fun on the banks of the scenic Great Miami River in downtown Dayton.

Sheltered under the covered pavilion, the MetroParks Ice Rink measures 70' x 150' and sets the scene as a perfect winter wonderland in downtown Dayton.  With its appeal to both young and old, the experience of skating at the MetroParks Ice Rink is fast becoming a holiday tradition for Miami Valley families looking for something fun to do together, and with its location along the riverfront, the MetroParks Ice Rink also is a great way to experience the outdoors during cooler weather.

Special Holiday Hours

• Opening Day (Nov. 28): 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.
• Christmas Day (Dec. 25): CLOSED
• New Year’s Day (Jan. 1): 1 – 8 p.m.
• MLK Jr. Day (Jan. 19): 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
• Presidents Day (Feb. 16): 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Themed skates are each Friday, from 6 to 10 p.m. and feature curated music, games in the comfort tent and fun decor:

• Jan. 16: Rock the Rink Skate (Rock anthems)
• Jan. 23: Cosmic Skate (Sci-fi inspired music)
• Jan. 30: Heroes Assemble Skate (Superhero inspired music)
• Feb. 6: K-pop Skate (K-pop hits)
• Feb. 13: Bestie Ballads (Galentine’s Day-themed music)
• Feb. 20: Swiftie Skate (Taylors Swift hits)
• Feb. 27: 80s + 90s Party Skate (Throwback 80s and 90s hip-hop)

Family Skate Days are from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sundays and offer family friendly music, games, coloring pages, a scavenger hunt and a penguin toss for a chance to win one of three prizes each week:

• Jan. 4: Level-Up Legends (Video game craft)
• Jan. 11: Timeless Tales (Dayton Metro Library handing out free books)
• Jan. 18: Medieval Mayhem (Crown/tiara craft)
• Jan. 25: Animal Adventures (Animal Ambassadors)
• Feb. 1: Picture Perfect (Paint-A-Park)
• Feb. 8: Bricktacular Builds (Community build in the comfort tent)
• Feb. 15: Heroes Unite (Superhero craft)
• Feb. 22: Penguin Palooza (Penguin craft)

Rent the Rink

The MetroParks Ice Rink is great for school field trips, office outings, family outings, kids’ parties, club activities, church socials and more. Rink rentals are available Sunday evenings from 6-8 PM throughout the rink season.
