LTR Wednesday Morning Volunteering at the Farm!

Join us every every Wednesday morning to help around the farm! We need helpings for animal care, garden work, cleaning and much more!

Tasks will vary from week to week.

Each Wednesday is broken into two hour shifts of 8:30am-10:30am and 10:30am-12:30pm

Do you love being around farm animals, outdoors, and working in the garden? Volunteers will be tasked in helping keep the farm ready for field trips and visitors. While you volunteer you will get to cuddle with animals, try fruits and vegetables in the garden, and hike the trails.

Impact:

Volunteers will leave knowing they helped improve and enhance the farm for the visitors and field trips to come.

Task:

  • Garden Work: pulling weeds, harvesting produce, planting, etc
  • Animal care: Clean stalls, general cleaning, feeding, groom ponies and donkeys.
  • Maintaining trails
  • Moving Hay and Straw
  • Events preparation and participation
  • Maintenance & Construction
  • Administrative tasks

Environment & Physical Demands:

Volunteer opportunities are primarily outdoors, or inside the barns. They take place in all weather conditions (unless there is lighting). You can expect to walk, bend, stand, reach, and/or lift objects of 40lbs or more during your volunteer shift. Please be aware of outdoor exposure risks and of seasonal allergies. Please let us know if you prefer lighter duty and we can find tasks that don’t require heavy lifting.

Parking and Meeting Instructions:

Volunteers may park in the gravel parking lot, and then walk up to the bank barn and meet by the mailbox to meet the farm staff for the day.

Dress:

Volunteers should dress for the weather, dress in layers, wear long pants, and closed-toe shoes (old shoes or boots),a pair of work gloves and a pre-filled water bottle.

Cancellation:

If you need to cancel a shift or are running late, please massage us ASAP through GivePulse, email Robert Christman at robert.christman@learningtreefarm.org, or call the farm at 937-866-8650.

Additional information: Families are encouraged to sign up and volunteer together. Children 15 and under are encouraged to volunteer, but should be supervised by accompanying adults. You can bring lunch with you and eat at the farm.
