Panera Bread encourages competitors of all ages and abilities to take part. Participants will receive an event t-shirt, goody bag, and a timing chip. . As racers cross the finish line, Panera Bread's freshly baked bagels, pastries and sandwiches will be provided.
Traditionally a September event, Panera Bread transitioned the Dayton Panerathon to April to better accommodate the runners of the Dayton area who may want to begin training for the Air Force Marathon with the Panerathon 5K. This year's event hopes to increase both in attendance and in participation by attracting at least 750 and walkers that raise at least $10,000 to benefit the Children's Hunger Alliance.
"Panera Bread is excited to once again host the Dayton Panerathon benefitting Children's Hunger Alliance," said Craig Flom, President of Breads of the World LLC, franchisee of Panera Bread. "We take pride in leading the charge on the fight against hunger. The Panerathon provides monetary aid to our Dayton community while raising awareness about hungry children right here in our own backyards."
Children's Hunger Alliance uses the funds raised from the event to outreach locally in the greater Dayton market. "We are pleased to partner with Panera Bread again on the 6th Annual Dayton Panerathon and appreciate their generosity. Over 47,000 children are living with childhood hunger in Dayton, so we look forward to our young ones and adults enjoying a morning of physical activity, healthy foods, and fun as we tackle childhood hunger together," says Shanikka Flinn, Director of Media and Communications, Children's Hunger Alliance.
