Wine Tasting at Ray's Wine Spirits Grill
Please join us at Ray’s Wine Spirits Grill, Wednesday, May 2rd, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM as we introduce the wines from the Gilpin Layne Family Wines, located in Napa, California. This is a boutique winery that only produces 20K Liters per year. This is the first time their wines have been featured in a tasting in Ohio.
The wines featured in the tasting will be:
Vitus 2017 Merlot Rose’ Olive Hill Napa
The Rose’ is in the style of the Rhone Valley of France. Fermented in concrete tanks, which is an ancient tradition that dates back to over 2,000 years when the French and Italians aged in stone to give the wine its mineral taste. Clean and refreshing, with a lovely floral bouquet ushering in ripe white mulberry, balanced nicely with a dry and crisp finish. Perfect as an aperitif, this Rose’ will pair well with many foods.
Cabernet Sauvignon, 2015, Calistoga Napa, French Oak
A beautiful and elegant wine that comes from Calistoga at the north end of the Napa Valley. Aged for 2 years in a blend of new and aged oak barrels, this is a classic Napa Cab. It presents a ripe and rich profile, with flavors of currant, dark berries, and light vanilla on the finish. Enjoy with hearty red meats, or a rich bleu cheese...
Carol’s Cuvee’, Pinot Noir, 2016, Caneros Sonoma, French Oak
Grown in the Carneros region of Sonoma, our 2016 Pinot Noir was aged for over a year in new French oak barrels. This is a ripe and rich wine with fantastic aromas of blackberry and dark cherry the follow with a full bodied spicy finish.
Vitus Merlot Reserve, 2014, Olive Hill Napa, French Oak
This is what Merlot should be all about. The grapes come from a 3 acre hillside vineyard with traditionally low yields that produce an age worthy, remarkable merlot. A structured and complex merlot, with elegant and aromatic dark berry flavors. Warm spices and cedar accents linger in this wine’s balanced finish. This wine will age for ten or more years.
