Culture Kitchen at The Market

2nd Street Market hosts Culture Kitchen monthly through October

Each of these unique culinary events showcases the talents of the Market’s food vendors as they share their cultural experiences and culinary traditions through food.  We'll sample a special dish, learn how and from what crops it's made, and learn about the country and its customs. 

These monthly events require registration and cost $35 per person. Recipes will be available! 

Culture Kitchen – Taste of Thailand - May 8

Join Homestyle Thai Bistro, a 2nd Street Market vendor as they present several tastings of food from their native Thailand and talk about life growing up there and why they came to the United State. Menu will be authentic Thai cuisine, menu is Rainbow Puff, a flaky pastry with a mixture of chicken, potato & vegetable, followed by a spicy Thai pork larb salad and then a hearty Khao soi which is a stew like dish with crispy egg noodles, chicken, egg, shallot, lime and spices. Dessert will be Thai tea custard which is a popular Thai street dessert.

Culture Kitchen: Taste of Ghana - June 12

Join Selina Asamoah, owner of Seli Foods a 2nd Street Market vendor as she presents several tastings of food from her native country of Ghana. Her menu will include Jollof Rice with baked chicken or Tilapia, also Peanut Butter soup with fufu, ripe fried Plantain with black eye beans and palm oil and Egusi soup(white melon seed) along with a refreshing Sobolo which is a Hibiscus flower drink.

Enjoy a evening of food & fun as you taste the cuisine from Belgium. Join Market vendor La Petite Kitchen's Chef Donald Whitcomb as he presents Tomato soup with truffle grilled cheese dippers, Tomate Crevette, Liege-Style Meatballs, Carbonnade and Brussels-Style Belgian Waffles
