By limiting his palette to grayscale, Beda strips away the safety net of color and challenges what is structurally necessary to recognize a human presence. This forces a hyper-focus on the structural mechanics of light, shadow, and negative space while reducing the figure to its barest essentials. His disciplined decisions become a direct physical inquiry into perception, memory, and the power of absence.
Osborne combines the use of physical mark-making with photographic processes to incorporate a sense of transparency and movement into the figures of her collages. The finished images evoke a feeling of evanescence: something physically present at one point, then disappears. Through her work, she explores the idea that the ever-changing nature of our existence doesn't have to be scary.
There will be a virtual artist talk via Zoom on Friday, November 20, 2026, at 12pm. Visit www.sinclair.edu/artgalleries for details.
