ARTery Gallery, New Show, New Artist
The ARTery Gallery has a NEW Members Exhibit on display for the month of June “There’s a Story Behind That”, and each piece has a story the artist would be happy to share with you. Our NEW Visiting Artist this Month is Kent Kaiser, a talented local Photographer and artist who will be displaying some of his photography as well as airbrush paintings with some stencil work. We also hope you will come join us in welcoming a good friend of the ARTery, and our Newest Member Artist, Mikee Huber who is also our Highlighted Artist of the Month for June. The two luscious paintings pictured, “Blue Monday I” and “Blue Monday II”, are a diptych painted by Huber with each painting measuring 24” x 18”, and they are currently hanging at the ARTery Gallery. Please do stop in First Friday, meet the artist and see her work in person.
Huber is a very talented Contemporary Painter who is no stranger to the Art World in the Dayton Area and far beyond! Her colorful and tantalizing work is currently on display in the ARTery Gallery and she is looking forward to showing you some of her newest creations. Huber said she “draws inspiration from music such as disco, funk, and MJ, from scientific images at the molecular level, as well as patterns and textures in nature”. In her bio, it states she “is a Dayton, Ohio artist whose artistic obsession is creating intuitive, colorful, and expressive multi-media nonobjective and abstract paintings. Her combination of colors, shapes, and patterns show her interpretation of the human connection with nature and manmade surroundings.” This is a wonderful description in words of her incredible work, but it is pale in comparison to seeing her work in person so we hope you will come visit the ARTery Gallery at Front Street, meet this fascinating artist and check out her beautiful body of work this month!
The artist currently works for a DoD consulting firm as a visual communications specialist who provides graphics and marketing support, while she also pursues her passion of painting. Huber has exhibited her Paintings and Photography in numerous group and solo shows since 2011 and has won many awards in juried shows. Since 2014, Huber shared her gifts and experience in many ways with others including being a mentor and guest lecturer for Photoshop events, a tutor to high school students preparing for art school and a graphics design mentor. She has also given a variety of demonstrations in and taught workshops in Photoshop, and Alcohol Ink.
Huber is not only an award-winning artist, but she was honored in 2020 being selected the Emerging Artist of the Year at Art Comes Alive (ACA), hosted by Art Design Consultants (ADC). Earlier this year the artist had a lovely solo show at the Wilmington College’s Harcum Gallery. And today, she also has some of her work on display, “The Rhythm of Abstraction: Remixed”, at the Wheat Penny Bar and Oven through July 9th, and she also has work on display at Val’s Home Bakery at Dished in Kettering through June.
Huber is not only a prolific artist, but she is also very active in our local arts community being a current member artist as well as board member of the Dayton Society of Artist (DSA), and she is a member artist of The Contemporary gallery, the Springfield Museum of Art (Ohio), and the Dublin Area Art League (DAAL). Obviously, this artist has learned the secret of how to create more hours in the day, and to get by with less sleep! Perhaps Mikee Huber could offer a seminar on this subject for the rest of us?
She earned an Associate of Art in Fine Art, an Associate of Science in Commercial Art, and a Photography Certificate from Clark State College in Springfield, OH. Huber has worked as a graphics designer, supporting scientists and engineers for over 25 years. Her art is in private collections throughout the United States.”
