Oakwood's Unsung Hero: Joe Desch, Codebreaker
Local historians Andrew Lloyd (Royal Air Force Group Captain, retired) and Deborah Anderson (daughter of Joe Desch), share the historical significance of Dayton’s Joe Desch. An engineer with NCR, Desch developed the cryptanalytic machine designed to break the codes in German communications during WWII. They will also touch upon possible scenarios had D-Day not been successful, how the Codebreaker achievements went beyond World War II, and Desch’s work in international security.
The Far Hills Speaker Series is presented by the Oakwood Historical Society and Wright Memorial Public Library. Seating is limited to 80, but Zoom access to the program is available by registering at wrightlibrary.org/local/speaker-series
