Founded in 1977, WGI Sports of the Arts is the world’s premier producer of indoor color guard, percussion ensemble, and winds groups competitions. It is called the "Sport of the Arts" because it brings music to life through performance in a competitive format. WGI competitions combine the athleticism of an Olympic event with the pageantry of a Broadway stage performance.
The non-profit organization features over 70 regional events throughout the United States. WGI has also hosted international events in China, Costa Rica, Malaysia, Netherlands, Philippines, Thailand, and the United Kingdom.
