Treasure Island River Fest
Adventures on the Great Miami is excited to be hosting the return of The Great Miami River Races along with the first ever Treasure Island River Fest, both on Saturday, June 24.
“It was great to see how excited everyone was for The Great Miami River Race last year,” Chris Jackson, owner of Adventures on the Great Miami said. “This river race is an event that we want to expand for years to come, and part of that is engaging the local communities that the river race passes and encouraging them to host a party celebrating the river!”
The first annual Treasure Island River Fest will be held at Treasure Island Park, which also serves as the starting point for The Great Miami River Races. The River Fest will feature live DJs and bands, all day boat demos, a 3-mile river photo scavenger hunt, sup yoga, a kids race, and not one, but two record-breaking attempts!
“No matter your level of experience, the Treasure Island River Fest is about celebrating this amazing natural resource, The Great Miami River,” Jackson said. “This family-friendly event will give novices access and experienced paddlers a great opportunity to get out on the river.”
The second annual Great Miami River Races features last year’s signature 12.1 canoe race, launching from Treasure Island at 10am and running down to Adventures on the Great Miami Tipp City property.
“We’ve set up a number of safety checkpoints and will have floating volunteers to ensure a safe and fun day on the river,” Jackson said. “Last year’s event ran smoothly but there are still some things we’ve learned to help this year’s go off even better.”
New to the Great Miami River Races this year will be the 2x2 Up & Down Race and The Bridge Sprint, along with separate classes for each race – racing boats, individual entrants, and teams.
“We want the Miami Valley to become a paddlers destination,” Jackson said. “The Great Miami is a beautiful river and people are just starting to realize all of its potential.”
