Ohio Valley Orchid Fest
Fifth Annual Ohio Valley Orchid Fest held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 4865 Wilmington Pike August 23-24
Join us for the annual Ohio Valley Orchid Fest. The goal of the event is to bring high quality orchids, both for sale and display as well as quality information about how to grow orchids to the general public and the orchid hobbyist in a fun, family friendly environment!
The Ohio Valley Orchid Fest is open to the public including:
- Orchid Sales Area (13 vendors from both the US, Ecuador and Taiwan)
- Repotting Demos and Q&A with Orchid Experts
- Orchid Show (judged by teams of American Orchid Society certified judges)
- Food Truck Area
- and fun activities for the entire family all weekend!
Flowering orchids of all shapes and sizes will be on display at the 5th annual Ohio Valley Orchid Fest presented by the Miami Valley Orchid Society, the Mid America Orchid Congress and the American Orchid Society, August 23-24th at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 4865 Wilmington Pike in Kettering. Event and sale hours are Saturday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m.–3 p.m. There is a suggested $3 donation per person that will all be donated to the Dayton Dream Center and the Lifewise Academy.
Orchid enthusiasts from over 18 states, Canada, Ecuador and Taiwan will display hundreds of award-winning flowering orchid plants arranged on display, along with orchid themed clothing and other orchid-related items. The show is an American Orchid Society judged show which plants are judged at both the local and national level. Members will be on hand to answer questions about growing orchids and repotting services will be offered for a nominal charge.
Free presentations on basic orchid culture are scheduled both days at 11 AM on Saturday and 12:30 PM on Sunday and will include information on watering, repotting and other cultural requirements to successfully grow the largest flowering plant family on Earth.
Local, regional, and international vendors will offer orchids and tropical plants for sale. Also available for purchase will be pots, potting medium and fertilizer.
Saturday, internationally known speakers, Ron Kaufmann, Chair of the American Orchid Society Conservation Committee and Ron Parsons, American Orchid Society Chief Education and Science Officer will present keynote talks. Tickets for the speakers are available at the door.
The show is family friendly with all ages welcome to attend. Several activities are available for kids including orchid stickers and make yourself into an orchid photo stations.
