JD Allen with the Eddie Brookshire Quintet

Hailed by the New York Times as "a tenor saxophonist with an enigmatic, elegant and hard-driving style," JD Allen is a bright rising light on today’s international jazz scene. His unique and compelling voice on the instrument – the result of a patient and painstaking confrontation with the fundamentals of the art - has recently earned Allen a blaze of critical attention signaling his ascension to the upper ranks of the contemporary jazz world.

The Eddie Brookshire Quintet is all about the truth and energy. Eddie’s musical ensemble can best be described as a neo, post bop, contemporary, high energy enclave. Their music consists primarily of originally composed songs and features musicians uniquely positioned to influence the direction of jazz. The quintet features the solid Fenton Sparks on drum kit, powerful Dr. Gary Onady on trumpet and flugelhorn, the transcendent Keigo Hirakawa on piano, the fluid Jack Novotny on tenor and soprano saxophone, flute, and bass clarinet, and the venerable leader of EBQ, Eddie Brookshire on acoustic bass.
