2015 Showhouse: The Walther Family Home
The 2015 DPVA Designers’ Show House and Gardens is in the Walther Family Home. The historic house, built in 1926, was the home of the George and Katie Walther family from 1932 until Katie’s death in 1972. It was then used as a corporate retreat for the Dayton Walther Corporation until finally being sold in 1986.
The house is predominately in the Colonial Revival style and includes 23 separate design areas to be toured. With wonderful original fireplaces, beautiful arched doorways, and unique beams and columns, the house is a must see. Check out what area designers have done with these classic spaces, and tour the gardens to gather spring planting ideas. We are grateful to the current homeowners, Gretchen and Jason Treherne for the opportunity to showcase this wonderful historic home.
