The City of Piqua will commemorate America's 250th anniversary with a weekend of community events, live entertainment and family activities during the Independence Day holiday weekend.

Friday, July 3

The celebration will begin Friday, July 3, with the Lock 9 Concert Series from 7 to 10:30 p.m. ReFlektion will headline the evening with opening act Cadillac McSwain at Lock 9 Park, 125 E. Water Street, Piqua.

At 10:30 p.m., a drone show sponsored by Dick Lumpkin's Auto Body, Inc. will take place at Lock 9 Park. The concert and the show are part of the City's America250 celebration and are free to attend. The drone display will be visible from Lock 9 Park and surrounding downtown streets.

Drones will operate approximately 400 feet above ground level just south of the pedestrian bike path bridge. For safety reasons, portions of the bike path in the immediate area will be temporarily closed during the drone show.

Saturday, July 4

Activities will continue Saturday, July 4, with PiquaFest from 2 to 10 p.m. in Lock 9 Park and on the 200 block of North Main Street. Hosted by The Piqua Center in partnership with the City of Piqua and Mainstreet Piqua, the event will feature food vendors, merchandise vendors, a children's activity area with inflatables and games, and live entertainment throughout the day.

Music performances will begin at 2 p.m. and continue through 9:30 p.m. Featured performers include The Menus, Shifferly Roads, Kim Campbell and the Southern Memories, and The Driving Force Band.

The weekend's festivities will conclude with the City of Piqua's annual Independence Day Firework Show at 10 p.m. on July 4. This year, the fireworks will be launched from the Garnsey Street Bridge, marking a change from previous years when the display was launched from Hollow Park. The show will be best viewed from Lock 9 Park and throughout the surrounding downtown area.

All events are free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and enjoy the holiday weekend in downtown Piqua and Lock 9 Park.
