Boonshoft Bash Elemental
The Boonshoft Museum of Discovery announces that its annual fundraiser, the Boonshoft Bash Elemental, will be held on September 7, 2019, from 7:00 p.m. to midnight. The Boonshoft Bash is an exciting, black-tie optional, one-night-only affair that gives patrons a chance to fund learning throughout the coming year.
The theme this year is Elemental, and the Museum invites guests to get back to basics at this evening exploring the purest form of matter! From the gold and silver that has been revered for its properties and luster since ancient times to the explosive power of hydrogen, the evening will celebrate the basic building blocks of nature.
“The Boonshoft Bash is a great way for friends of the Museum to enjoy an exciting evening of dinner, dancing, and exclusive Museum experiences,” said Tracey Tomme, CEO of the Dayton Society of Natural History. “The evening gives our guests the opportunity to continue to support the vision of the future of the Boonshoft, Sun Watch, and Fort Ancient. Together we can make this a true place of discovery, learning, and wonder that will be the model of what other science centers want to be.”
Dinner guests will kick off the evening with an opening reception with specialty cocktails, followed by an exquisite dinner and then a lively museum-wide party featuring Dancing in the Main Exhibit Hall. Friends of the Boonshoft Museum can enjoy the action of the day’s games on large screens and cushy seating in the Sports Zone. There’s also the laid-back comfort of the Late Night Lounge, where visitors can choose to enjoy cocktails and relaxing music.
Trivia in the Planetarium will offer guests an opportunity to test their knowledge in a fun round or two of team trivia in the Caryl D. Philips Space Theater.

2019 Raffle
The annual Boonshoft Bash offers our community the chance to support the Museum with a raffle ticket purchase. Tickets are 1 for $50 or 3 for $100, with a grand prize of $2,500 CASH. Additional prizes include themed gift baskets valued at up to $600.
This year’s Gift Baskets include a wonderful Bourbon Basket for those who enjoy their spirits on the smooth side, a distinctive Wine Basket for lovers of the grape, a refreshing Beer Basket for guests who know their way around their barley and hops, an incredible Golf Experience for our friends who live for a few rounds on the links, and a Professional Sports Package for Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Cavaliers, UC Bearcats, UD Basketball, and Columbus Blue Jackets fans.
The drawing will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019, at the Bash, but even those who cannot attend can support the Museum! Winners need not be present.
2019 Silent Auction
This year’s Silent Auction will offer the chance to grab a one-of-a-kind experience at the Boonshoft Museum or SunWatch, as well as support the purchase of much-needed equipment. You can only get these exclusive packages at the Bash, so come ready to put your bid in.
Packages include; Family Night in the Planetarium, Nerd League Party, Wine Tasting among the Stars, Dinner with the CEO at her Home, Private Tai-Chi Class with Patience the Sloth, Tea with Taxidermy, and much more!
The Silent Auction packages fund our curators’ wish lists, our builders’ equipment needs, and a Zoo Toy drive to keep our animals healthy, happy and safe.
