The band was formed in 2007 and consists of Cody Cannon (lead vocals and guitar), John Jeffers (guitar, vocals), Cody Tate (lead guitar, rhythm guitar, vocals), Jeff Hogg (drums), Jamey Gleaves (bass), and Tony Kent (percussion). The band’s name came from a guy named Myers who “lived down by the river” and “stayed drunk all the time.” The boys nicknamed him “Whiskey,” and then nicked the name for themselves.
Whiskey Myers takes the blues rock genre and mixes it with modern-day Texas Country — The Southern rock/country group from Palestine, Texas was featured in Kevin Costner’s TV series Yellowstone (not just on the soundtrack, but on screen, performing in a bar), which propelled the band’s entire catalogue into the Top 10 of the iTunes country chart.
In September 2019, the band released the self-titled album, Whiskey Myers which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard Country. In total, they have released six albums, the latest being Tornillo released in July 2022. The band has toured with artists such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hank Williams Jr., and Cody Jinks. They’ve also made appearances at various music festivals such as Austin City Limits, Stagecoach, and CMA Fest.
Despite their success, Whiskey Myers remains humble and dedicated to their craft. They continue to make music that speaks to their fans, drawing from their own personal experiences and the lives of those around them. Their music is a reflection of their roots, and they remain proud of their Texas heritage.
