ThumpDaddy: Donald Payne’s musical journey began in the 1970s with the Columbus soul group, The Crowd Pleasers. Audiences can expect a blend of soulful grooves and funk, highlighted by his collaborations with Fred Wesley and Boosy in 1999.
Freekbass: Freekbass, born Chris Sherman, is a Cincinnati-based funk artist known for his collaborations with Bootsy Collins and high-energy live performances. His unique blend of funk and showmanship, combined with his innovative bass techniques, continues to captivate audiences and push the boundaries of the genre.
Rick James’ Stone City Band: Rick James’ Stone City Band, formed in 1977, was the backing band for Rick James throughout his career, contributing to iconic funk hits like “Super Freak” and “Give It to Me Baby.” Their tight grooves and powerful performances helped define the sound of funk music in the late 20th century.
