Event details
A tapestry of American culture and a history full of joy, optimism, resilience and empathy.
The Bach Society of Dayton invites audiences to experience the character of American music over the last 250 years with America 250”, presented on October 11, 2026 at 4:00 PM at Kettering Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 3939 Stonebridge Road in Kettering with a concert preview at 3:00 PM by composer Steven Winteregg and poet, Sierra Leone. An encore concert will also be performed on November 8, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Arbogast Performing Arts Center (APAC) at 50 S. Dorset Street in Troy with a pre-concert reception will be held at 2:00 PM featuring pianist David Wion and soloist Rachael Boezi, from the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center.
This program presents a wide array of American choral and orchestra music, from pieces that are old as America itself to one newly commissioned composition by local composer Steven Winteregg. “Many ensembles have commemorated the 250th anniversary of America with performances of music by American composers – Copland, Gershwin and Bernstein, but relatively few have offered music about America. This concert celebrates our great nation’s character rather than just music that was created here,” says David Crean, Music Director of the Bach Society.
Tickets and additional information for both venues are available at Bach Society of Dayton website.
