Meadowlark & Wheat Penny Duo to launch "Little Bear"

Dayton's Meadowlark and Wheat Penny are launching "Little Bear" this fall; a new spot for world-inspired sandwiches and brunch in the historic Dietz Block.
Little Bear to Bring Global Flavors and Brunch Bliss to Dayton's Dietz Block This Fall
Dayton's vibrant dining landscape is set for an exciting addition this fall, as Dine Out Dayton is reporting the upcoming launch of Little Bear.
This new brunch and sandwich concept is the brainchild of Liz Valenti and Dave Rawson, the culinary duo behind local favorites Meadowlark and Wheat Penny Oven & Bar. "Little Bear", named after Valenti’s beloved dog, will find its home in the beautifully restored historic Dietz Block building at 521 Wayne Avenue.
Valenti and Rawson are renowned for their innovative approach to Dayton's food scene, and with Little Bear, they're channeling their passion into a space designed for warmth, community, and globally inspired flavors. The menu promises an exciting array of world sandwiches, including Banh Mi, Croque Madame, Po’ Boys, Shawarma, and Cubanos. Brunch enthusiasts will delight in elevated classics that have become synonymous with their other establishments, such as shrimp and grits, pizza dough cinnamon rolls, smoked salmon Benedict, and Bloody Marys featuring house-made mix.
Whether patrons seek a cozy dine-in experience, a quick bagel and espresso to go, or a leisurely brunch with friends and cocktails, Little Bear aims for an intentional, playful, and welcoming atmosphere. The choice of the Dietz Block building, currently being restored by Burgess and Jeanine Gow, underscores a shared commitment to enhancing the neighborhood and breathing new life into a historic gem.
There is little doubt that "Little Bear" is poised to become a new neighborhood favorite, enriching Dayton's dining scene and offering a warm haven for food lovers.
