October is Domestic Violence Awareness and LGBT History Month. To continue raising awareness of such impactful issues, Dayton Metro Library will host several events.

In support of Domestic Violence Month: 

Community Conversations: Centering Survivors

Main Library, Eichelberger Forum

Thursday, October 20, 6-7 pm

A panel discussion hosted by the YWCA and DML that will focus on survivors and highlight community resources. (For All Ages)

In support of LBGT History: 

Black Beauty: Viewing and Discussion

Main Library, Eichelberger Forum

Saturday, October 8, 2:30-4 pm

Black Beauty is a visual diary that traces Elle Moxely (director) as she recalls her experience as a Black trans woman in the Midwest. A small panel discussion will follow. (For Adults)

Social Justice Speaker Series: Michael Thomas Ford

Main Library, Eichelberger Forum

Saturday, October 22, 2:30-3:30 pm

Ford, an Ohio author, will discuss his books. Ford’s books, for both young readers and adults, often focus on the experience of being part of the LGBTQ community. (For Adults and Teens)
