Dayton’s Only Finalist: Help Kettering Children’s Choir Win $10,000!
🎤 Dayton, we have a chance to bring home a win. The Kettering Children’s Choir (KCC) is a finalist for a $10,000 GBU Foundation Award—and they are the only organization from our region in the running 🎶

Right now, the Kettering Children’s Choir (KCC) is a finalist for a $10,000 Community Builder Award from the GBU Foundation—but the clock is ticking.
The GBU (German Beneficial Union) is a member-owned fraternal organization that has been around since 1892. Originally founded by German immigrants to support their local communities, they have evolved into a national leader in charitable giving. They’ve picked KCC as a finalist because of their impact on the Miami Valley, and now they’re turning the final decision over to us.
When a community supports its own, big things happen. Which is why Dayton Local is delighted to join our friends at Dayton Liederkranz Turner (Dayton's oldest German Club) to help spread the word.
⏳ We are encouraging the community to support KCC by going to gbu.org/foundation and voting for KCC in the Community Builder category.
Why Your 30-Second Vote Matters
When Jessika Z., a shy 4th grader with an amazing voice auditioned for KCC, her grandma initially paid for her tuition. When Jessika's grandma passed away, her mom contacted us to explain that they could no longer afford to keep her in KCC. Thanks to community-funded scholarships, Jessika didn't have to leave. She stayed, blossomed into a soloist, and today, she is a music education major at Wright State.
Your vote isn't just about a trophy; it's about scholarships.
"This award would make a huge difference for our Choir," said Artistic Director Christina Smith. “It would enable us to offer the life-changing experience of KCC membership to talented young singers in our area".
In other words, your vote will help create the next generation of Dayton’s music teachers and performers.
And there's more. Should they win, KCC also plans to launch "Voices for Wellness," a new program focused on youth leadership and emotional well-being through music—bringing the power of song to civic and business events all over the Miami Valley.
