əkoostik hookah blends folk, psychedelic rock, bluegrass, blues, extended jams, and concise rock into a signature “hookah” sound. With over 100 originals and a vast cover catalog, no two shows are alike. Renowned for electrifying live performances, they thrive on crowd energy, crafting improvised sets for unforgettable experiences.
Founded in 1991 in a Columbus, Ohio basement bar, core members Dave Katz (keys, vocals, guitar), Steve Sweney (guitar), and Eric Lanese (drums) anchor the band, joined by Eric Sargent (guitar, vocals) in 2010 and Matt Paetsch (bass) in 2018. They’ve played thousands of shows, earning a devoted fanbase that chants “hooooooookah” at festivals nationwide.
Since 1994, they’ve hosted Hookahville, one of America’s longest-running music fests, drawing thousands twice yearly. Veterans of Bonnaroo, Gathering of the Vibes, and more, əkoostik hookah remains a musical powerhouse! Discover their magic live!
