Joseph Desch and the Dayton Codebreakers

Wright Library will screen Dayton Codebreakers, a film about the brilliant, and until recently, highly classified achievements of Oakwood resident and WWII codebreaker, Joseph Desch. The hour-long film will be followed by a short presentation and Q&A.

This program is brought to you in partnership with the citizen's group, Unsung Oakwood Heroes, which is raising awareness of the local, national and international impact of Oakwood's notable residents, starting with Joseph Desch. To learn more about WWII Codebreakers, consider pre-watching The Imitation Game, a 2014 film starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Alan Turing. Turing and his team at Bletchley Park first cracked the WWII German Enigma code. Though not totally accurate, it sets the stage for Dayton Codebreakers. The Imitation Game is available from Wright Library in DVD, Blue Ray, and on Roku sticks or stream it on your own account with Hulu, Netflix, Prime Video, Roku Channel, or Tubi.
