Blending Magickal Incenses W/ Julian
Plant spirits are powerful magickal allies to the witch when appropriately used. This workshop will focus on the magickal properties of a selection of plants commonly used in making incense. In particular, we’ll focus on common incense ingredients, including some that you may have in your spice rack.
We’ll begin by discussing the magickal history of incense, and the various types of incense. For the rest of our discussion, we’ll focus on powdered incense, which is burned using charcoal.
Next, we’ll look at some of the tools used in making this type of incense. Finally, we’ll explore the various plants we’ll discuss, including their traditional magickal uses, other uses, and how it works best in incense. This workshop will be experiential in that we’ll burn small amounts of each plant to experience them on their own, and we’ll blend small amounts of them together to experience how they blend.
Finally, we’ll discuss how to begin making your own blends and how to manage substitutions.
Students should bring a notebook, a writing instrument, and two small glass jars or vials.
