Fairborn's annual Fishing Derby takes place on the 2nd Saturday in May at the Community Park Pond.

Fairborn Annual Fishing Derby

This free fishing derby is held at the Community Park pond and is open to all ages! This is a catch and release derby and no fishing license is required.

Prizes are awarded for:

  • Most Fish Caught
  • Longest Fish Caught
  • Smallest Fish Caught

Participants should bring their own fishing pole and bait. This event gives children the opportunity to learn how to fish, and provides a great way for families to spend time together, to learn about nature and activities they can do outdoors, and enjoy time outside.

Prior to the Derby is a "Passport to Fishing" class for ages 4-17. The class will teach: Casting, Fish Identification, and Knot Tying.

To register: contact the Parks and Recreation office at (937) 754 - 3090.
