Barber Cello Concerto & Haydn’s Wartime Mass

Barber Cello Concerto & Haydn’s Wartime Mass

Joining forces with the brilliant cellist Miriam K. Smith and guest conductor Joel Smirnoff, the Philharmonic explores themes of resilience and hope. Barber’s Cello Concerto is a powerhouse of emotion, leading perfectly into Haydn’s monumental Mass in Time of War. This is music that reminds us of the strength we find when we come together as a city.

The Program

• Ludwig van Beethoven: Coriolan Overture
• Samuel Barber: Cello Concerto, Op. 22
• Joseph Haydn: Mass in C Major, Hob.XXII:9, Missa in tempore belli
