Happy 2nd Anniversary to OinkADoodleMoo's Kettering Location

Yes, you read it right…and no…it's not on Old McDonald's farm.

Headed south out of downtown Dayton Friday afternoon I called my sister and asked her to meet me at OinkADoodleMoo Smoky BBQ on Far Hills in Kettering for a late lunch.

OinkADoodleMoo offers pork, chicken, beef, and turkey - slow-smoked, in-house over an applewood fire and includes your choice of 4 homemade BBQ sauces. Sammies (aka: sammich) are offered with or without the bun, for those of you watching your carbs (like me). The menu also offers a variety of sides including traditional BBQ accompaniments like slaw, "gas" (baked beans), and mac & cheese in addition to unique options such as the very popular baby bakers and corn puddin'. I found the prices to be reasonable and the quality far exceeds anything I can get in a "drive thru".

Since it was a late lunch, Sister and I both opted for Oink Sammies with chips. I opted for the Sizzlin' sauce and Sister elected to mix Sizzlin' with Yellabelly. The service was fast-n-friendly and the pork very tender-n-tasty. There must have been holes in the baskets, because the food disappeared lickety split.

Since I forgot to take a pic of my basket
before eating, another friendly diner
let me "snap” a pic of her basket
(with the baby bakers).

On each of my 2 recent visits, staff members came into the dining area to make sure everything was great. On Friday it was none other than owner, Tom Donaldson.

A short conversation with Tom reveals that he's been in the restaurant industry for more than 30 years. He credits his wife as being the catalyst for his purchase of the first OinkADoodleMoo franchise. She asked him when he was going to open his own restaurant, unaware that he'd recently met the founder of OinkADoodleMoo (Mark Peebles) at a church outreach meeting and, as they say, the rest is history. Tom opened the Kettering location October 6th 2010 and hasn't looked back. He'd like to open a 2nd franchise, but hasn't settled on a location.

OinkADoodleMoo's Kettering location has partnered with Young's Jersey Dairy to offer the locally made ice cream by the half-pint or pint. Now you don't have to drive all the way to Yellow Springs to satisfy your craving for Young's ice cream. In return, Young's sells OinkADoodleMoo's BBQ sauces in their gift shop.

OinkADoodleMoo was named to Forbes "5 Hot Little Restaurant Chains You Can Buy Into Now” in June of this year and also landed on the Fast Casual 2012 Top 100 Movers & Shakers list. Join their Mobile VIP Club to receive exclusive offers/coupons. Every 20th person to join wins free a FREE meal.

Thumbs up for another local restaurant from DaytonLocal.com!
