Creative Pizzas and Gluten Free Options at Wheat Penny Oven and Bar

If you're beyond bored with traditional pizza, you will absolutely love Wheat Penny Oven & Bar (brought to you by the trusty culinarians at Meadowlark). This place puts together some of the most creative pizzas I've ever seen, for example the Bright Eyes pizza pairs zucchini and lemon slices - two ingredients you probably haven't seen on a pizza - with roasted red peppers and feta to create an amazingly innovative creation. My husband and I shared a large Bright Eyes (photo above right) and had enough left over to take with us to lunch the following day (apologies to any coworkers who were crazy jealous of my amazing pizza!).

Wheat Penny Eggplant FriesThey also have great appetizers! We tried the eggplant fries(photo left) and fell instantly in love with them - they are cooked to perfection and even people who are on the fence about eggplant would probably love these fries.

The wine and beer selection is fabulous with lots of options for people of all tastes. I especially loved their wide selection of homemade sodas so kids can enjoy something a little special as well. I was thrilled with the cocktail I tried - Grapefruit Cello - because it was refreshing and flavorful. I normally don't like mint in drinks but they really know how to mix flavors and it came out amazing and it really hit the spot on a hot, late summer day!

Wheat Penny Flourless Chocolate CakeFor dessert, we shared the Chocolate Hazelnut Flourless Cake(photo right) and if there weren't so many people there for the grand opening I would have danced - it was seriously that perfect. I don't recommend sharing because after the first taste you'll need one of your own.

I'm so happy that Wheat Penny Oven & Bar is so committed to serving as many people as possible by offering plenty of vegetarian dishes, non-alcoholic drinks, and gluten free options - that's right, they can make your pizza on gluten free crust! It's always great to have a restaurant nearby where you know everyone in your group will be accommodated.

Wheat Penny Oven & Bar is just getting started having opened officially last week so for the time being your best bet on keeping up with menu changes, hours, and all other information is to like them on Facebook where they make regular updates for their followers to keep up on what's going on at Wheat Penny.

After just one visit to Wheat Penny Oven & Bar, I'm hooked! You should definitely visit Wheat Penny to break out of your boring, delivery pizza rut.
