Summer Nature Hike at Fort Ancient
At 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2017, Fort Ancient Earthworks and Nature Preserve features a hike through the woods led by Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist Dave Woehr. Participants will observe the natural beauty of the flora and fauna, bugs, and wildlife of southern Ohio during the invigorating and informative walk through the historic site.
Jack Blosser, Site Manager for Fort Ancient said “Summer accentuates the beauty of the landscape at Fort Ancient. Flowers and wildlife, the entire ecosystem from bugs to birds, set against the amazing archaeology of miles of ancient mounds is an awe-inspiring experience of nature.”
Attendees are encouraged to wear appropriate shoes and dress for the weather; the walking trails are moderate and reasonably flat, but the path can include foot bridges and other natural obstacles. The hike can take from 1 ½ to 2 hours.
Included with regular admission. FREE for Dayton Society of Natural History Members.
