Spring Wildflower Walk at Fort Ancient

Join us on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Fort Ancient Earthworks and Nature Preserve for the annual Wildflower Discovery Tour. Led by Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist Dave Woehr, participants will enjoy the natural beauty of the flora and fauna gracing the woods of southern Ohio while learning about spring flowers and plants.

“The beauty of Fort Ancient in early spring is like an inspiring landscape painting. The blooming wildflowers of every description in the midst of the amazing ancient mounds is a sight to behold,” said Fort Ancient Site Manager Jack Blosser.

Attendees are encouraged to wear appropriate shoes and dress for the weather; the walking trails are moderate and reasonably flat, but the path can include footbridges and other natural obstacles. The walk can take up to two hours.

Dave Woehr is a life-long nature enthusiast trained as an Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist and has been conducting tours through the human-built Fort Ancient Nature Preserve and in Ohio state, county, and city parks for many years.
