Downtown Troy Merchant's Open House

To officially mark the beginning of the holiday shopping season, downtown Troy merchants will hold a weekend full of surprises and cheer, with extended hours Nov. 4, 5 and 6.

"The individual store owners in Troy are each planning store events, product specials and exciting holiday ideas for visitors to our downtown," said John Wilson, executive director of Troy Main Street. "The variety of our local shops has grown in downtown Troy, so there is something for everyone. It's a very welcoming community. It's going to be a fun, festive holiday season in downtown Troy."

While hours will vary from store to store, most of the downtown merchants will extend their hours on Friday, Nov. 4 and Saturday, Nov. 5 until 9 p.m. In addition, many stores will open on Sunday, Nov. 6, from 12 noon to 4 p.m.

Downtown Troy is known for its beautiful, historic small town charm, and the holiday season adds excitement that makes downtown the place to be. The festivities begin with the merchant's Holiday Open House event the first weekend in November, then things really gain sparkle with The "Grand Illumination" tree lighting event, Nov. 25, followed by "Shop Small Saturday," Sat., Nov. 26.

"The variety of shops in downtown Troy—from clothing boutiques and specialty shops to elegant jewelers to home décor, furniture and books—makes shopping here a destination that is unique and friendly," Wilson commented. "We have great dining options too, from a casual hamburger shop to several fine dining locations. And we have a deli that serves lighter meals, snacks and ice cream, and, of course, Winans Chocolates and Coffees (and hot cocoas). People from all over the region visit beautiful down Troy, and we are gearing up for a warm and welcoming Holiday Open House to kick off the season."
