Tree Tower at Cox Arboretum reopens to the public

Five Rivers Metroparks has announced that the Tree Tower, one of the most popular amenities at Cox Arboretum MetroPark will reopen this Saturday, May 5, 2018.

“The safety and enjoyment of our visitors is a top priority,” said Carrie Scarff, MetroParks chief of planning and projects. “We have worked diligently to restore this iconic structure to its original beauty and ensure that the Tree Tower can be enjoyed by the public for many years to come.”

The Tree Tower, which is 65 feet tall and opened in October 2012, was closed in the fall of 2016 after staff found soft spots in the Tower’s three wooden logs, which are the central support structure for the Tower.  The support logs were replaced during the $390,000 reconstruction of the Tree Tower which took place over the winter months.

The Tower was originally funded through a partnership with The James M. Cox Jr. Arboretum Foundation and Five Rivers MetroParks.
