Dayton Metro Library Programs Address Heroin Epidemic
Drug overdose deaths in Montgomery County have increased 104% from 2010 to 2015. 92% of the overdose deaths involved an opioid. Dayton recently ranked worst among cities with over 400,000 people for drug overdoses, with Cincinnati and Toledo also in the top 10.
In light of these statistics, the Dayton Metro Library presents two free programs in September focused on opioid abuse, prevention, intervention, and support.
“Heroin addiction and opioid abuse clearly affects countless families in the Dayton area, but there are organizations that can help,” said Jennifer Spillman, chair of Programming Committee at the Dayton Metro Library. “These Library programs are timely, and offer insights and support to people who need it most.”

Families of Addicts: For Anyone Touched by an Opioid Addiction
