First Buc-ee's in Ohio coming to Dayton

There are moments in life that will always be remembered, including (in no particular order) my wedding day, the birth of my children, and first time at Buc-ee’s. Each brought more joy than ever anticipated. Locals who have yet to experience Buc-ee’s will get the opportunity without having to travel as the state's first location is coming to Huber Heights.

To call Buc-ee’s simply a gas station would be a great disservice. It’s the Disney World of gas stations. More pumps than Mathematical geniuses can count, bathrooms clean enough to eat off the floor from (can’t let any dropped brisket go to waste), a wide variety of tasty foods, stylish apparel, and almost everything you would ever shop for. It truly is a one-stop shop. If for no other reason, a trip to Buc-ee’s is worth it, just to see the massive crowd of people inside. Nowhere else will you see a crowd standing shoulder to shoulder waiting for a sandwich at a ‘gas station'.

The food ranges from their famed brisket to a variety of other hot sandwiches, taco/burritos, jerky and more. For something sweet, there’s fresh fudge, cake pops, and hot nuts. The Beaver Nuggets are also a must-have. For the health-conscious, fruit cups are also available. I’m anxious for the opportunity to try more of Buc-ee’s food.

After visiting my first Buc-ee’s in 2021 (Calhoun, GA), I felt compelled to mark the occasion by purchasing a T-shirt. I have since acquired two more Buc-ee shirts. Eventually, I’ll have one for every day of the week. There are also Buc-ee magnets, pajamas, undergarments, hats, etc. for purchase.

If for some reason, no other aspects of Buc-ee’s is of interest, the bathrooms are worth stopping for. Many places claim to have clean bathrooms, but Buc-ee’s lives up to it. Especially when traveling, a bathroom you don’t feel like you need to change shoes after stepping in, is very welcome. Despite the large crowds, there are also enough stalls to avoid long lines. (Still may be a line for the women’s).

The only negative of Buc-ee’s is it can really slow down your travel time. Normally, you just stop to fuel up, use the restroom and maybe grab a snack. All that in 10 minutes or less. Buc-ee’s however draws you in. Before you know it an hour has passed and you haven’t seen everything yet. There’s still 300 miles to go until your destination, but is anything more important than Buc-ee’s? At least when there’s one local, there won’t be the pressure to get back on the road.

As announced on Facebook by Jeff Gore, mayor of Huber Heights, the Buc-cee’s will be located at the intersection of 235 and 70. The nearest Buc-cee’s is currently in Richmond, Ky.
