Who says brunch is just a weekend thing? Thanks to the Miami Valley Restaurant Association, the brunch game in Dayton just got a major upgrade, to dinner.
Brunch Like Nobody's Watching: "Let's Get Brunched" Recap
Four years post-covid-cancellation, The Miami Valley Restaurant Association (MVRA) revived the "Let’s Get Brunched" event packed The Steamplant with foodies and cocktail lovers alike.
Shoutout to Buckeye Vodka, also sponsors of the popular Buckeye Vodka Battle of the Bartenders, for supplying clean, smooth spirits that fueled the day. Creativity was off the charts with bartenders infusing vodka, whipping up homemade syrups, and shaking up shrubs to craft some seriously unique sips. Oddly enough, no Bloody Marys made the scene, but we did catch twists on Bellinis, Mimosas, and one Russian.
And the Brunch Oscars Go To:
• Best Cocktail: Tori Lee from Corner Kitchen dazzled us with the Buckeye Zinger and won my vote. Talk about a wake-up call!
• Best Pairing: Rip Rap Roadhouse(photo below) nailed it with their Chicken and Waffles alongside the Lebowski Breakfast Shake (similar to a White Russian). Yes, it’s as good as it sounds.
• Best Brunch Dish: Dewberry 1850 wowed with Plate Home Fries & Summer Squash Gnocchi, with pork belly bacon and a zesty orange-tomato reduction. (say that 3x fast)
Honorable nods go out to Amber Rose for their decadent bread pudding paired with a crisp Greyhound, Corner Kitchen’s refreshing Blueberry Salmon Salad (perfectly paired with their Buckeye Zinger), and The Florentine’s dreamy Brioche Berry French Toast.
