City of Dayton to Broadcast Tours of the Dayton Arcade
In response to public interest in the Dayton Arcade, the City of Dayton will present live guided tours of the historical complex via social media on three dates: Friday, October 23; Thursday, October 29; and Friday, November 13.
The tours may be viewed by going to twitter.com/cityofdayton (look for the LIVE link) or by using the Periscope app. Viewers do not have to be registered Twitter or Periscope users to watch the tours, but registered Periscope users will be able to submit questions and comments in real time.
Each tour will be guided by John Gower, the City's Urban Design Coordinator, and will be no more than 20 minutes in length.
The tours follow City Commission approval of a $750,000 contract for performing emergency repairs to the multi-building commercial/residential complex, which has been vacant since 1991. The repairs are designed to keep the buildings dry and structurally sound in anticipation of possible future re-development. Public access to the Arcade is not permitted because of safety concerns. The following is a broadcast schedule:
Episode 1: Friday, October 23, 3:00 p.m.
