Vandalia-Butler Star-Spangled Celebration postponed, not cancelled
The 2020 Vandalia-Butler Township Star Spangled Celebration will be postponed to a later date this summer as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The event, which typically draws thousands to the Vandalia Sports Complex and its surrounding neighborhoods, is traditionally held on July 3.
For the uninitiated, the Star-Spangled Celebration is one of Vandalia’s most popular events each year featuring live music, food vendors, and a spectacular fireworks show.
With the Ohio Department of Health’s present emphasis on small group settings and social distancing, the event would need to be dramatically altered to present. We expect some of the current restrictions to be eased in the coming weeks, which would clear the way for an end-of-summer event that would include music, food, and of course, fireworks.
