Dancers and Authors Kick Off National Hispanic Heritage Month at Dayton Metro Library

Dayton Metro Library celebrates the culture and history of Hispanic Americans during National Hispanic Heritage Month (NHHM, Thursday, September 15 – Saturday, October 15) with a variety of fun and engaging programs for all ages.

Here’s a few upcoming NHHM programs: 

Orgullo Mexicano, Traditional Mexican Dancers: Celebrating Afro-Mexican Roots

Main Library, Bassani Theater Off Third, 3rd Floor

Monday, September 12, 5:30-8 pm

For Adults and Families

Orgullo Mexicano will perform Afro-Mexican folklore dances, giving patrons an opportunity to learn traditional dances.

Interactive Book Reading (Spanish/English): Author Adriana Prieto Quintero

Huber Heights Branch

Saturday, September 17, 3-4 pm

For Families, Pre-K/Kindergartners, and kids in Grades 1-4

Adriana Prieto Quintero is a writer and teacher from Venezuela with over ten years of experience in teaching both Literature and Spanish. She will read from her book, Where Are We From?. 

An Evening of Poetry with Albino Carrillo

For Adults and Teens

University of Dayton professor and Pushcart Prize nominee Albino Carrillo will share his poetry and discuss where he finds inspiration for his writing.
