Teen Fashion Camp - Garment Construction

TEEN FASHION

This class we will focus on using a pattern to create one of the following items, (each student will choose what they want to make), a tee shirt, skirt, dress, shorts or PJ pants!

Students will learn how to read a pattern, finding the information that is needed to have a successful fitting. They will learn about the markings, notions, extras. How to choose the fabric and how to find the grainline. This class will enable them to feel confident to get a pattern to make! Each student will get to keep the pattern that they chose to make as well!

If they get done early I will have some fun “accessory” projects they can make using the scraps from their garments and some from my stash at the shop!

On the last day, we will do a small fashion photo shoot!

Skill Level:

The student can thread the machine and fill a bobbin, understands basic sewing terms, cutting and seam allowance

Ages: 13-18

Sign up by April 15th  and receive an early bird discount of $15!

FASHION – TURN TO THE LEFT

This year for Teen fashion camp we will take it up a notch! This year there will be a few patterns the students can choose from!
PJ pants, Gym City Shorts, Tee Shirt, Skirt or basic dress!  This camp is 4 days –  3 hours a day!!!

I will have all types of ribbons, lace, buttons and such for students to choose from to decorate their makes!

Day 1 – Students will choose what pattern they will make. They will choose from the City Gym Shorts, Pj Pants, A simple dress, Tee shirt or skirt! We will go over reading a sewing pattern, how to find the right size, what will be needed to complete the garment (fabric/notions).  We will talk about seam allowance, interfacing, marking our fabric, how to find grain and more! The first day will be all about learning how to use a pattern and students will get to design their garments.
At the end of class, each student will be sent home with a supply list for the next day in class.

Please make sure to wash your fabric and have all supplies before Day 2.

Day 2 – Students will start cutting out and marking their fabrics! We will start sewing our garments together and talk about trims/additions to our clothing. Construction will begin.

Day 3 – Students will continue to sew together their garments. Fitting and trims.

Day 4 – Students should have very little sewing on garments today and we should have time to make a zip pouch or a small tote!

Then fashion photo shoot around the building and outside!
