Have you tried the Dayton Dog?

Hey Dayton, did you know you have a hotdog named after you and IT… IS… INCREDIBLE!  The folks at Chicago Gyros and Dogs have designed a hot dog just for the stout, hard working, blue collar Daytonians to satisfy our desire to enjoy a warm hearty meal quickly.

Take a classic all beef Vienna hotdog and put it on a soft, fresh, poppy seed bun; top it with mustard, onion, homemade relish, and sport peppers; then take an order of fresh cut, perfectly fried French fries and put that right on top (the second photo is the dog you'll find under the mountain of fries seen in the first).  It is like a whole meal on a bun for less than the cost of a Big Mac.  Having experienced a Dayton Dog myself, I can vouch that this combination works amazingly well together and as a Daytonian I would be proud to have this dog represent my city in a hot dog battle any day.  Bring on your puny Cincinnati style cheese coneys and your wimpy bacon wrapped barbeque dogs, the Dayton Dog will show them Dayton is all bite and no bark.  This is Madness! No, this is Dayton!

The Dayton Dog isn't the only interesting menu item at Chicago Gyros and Dogs.  As the name indicates, there are also Greek and Chicago culinary influences on the fabulous food.

Try a traditional Chicago style hotdog (with onions, relish, sport peppers, dill pickle, tomato and celery salt) or the time-honored Chicago style Italian Beef sandwich.  If you want to take your taste buds on a trip to the warm, sunny Mediterranean, then try some of their traditional Greek fair like Gyros, Domathes, Flafel Balls, Tiropita and Spanakopita…much of it made fresh in-house.

Can't decide between American style diner standards and the more exotic Greek food?  You don't have to!  Chicago Gyros and Dogs have you covered with some completely off the wall creations.  Try a cheeseburger or all beef hotdog topped with gyro meat and tzatziki sauce.

If that isn't adventurous enough for you, try the Nasti Natti burger piled high with two beef patties, Gyro meat, bacon, nacho and Provolone cheese, jalapeno peppers, grilled onions and tzatziki sauce between two pitas.  If you do try it and live to tell about, please let me know and allow me to shake your hand for being a braver foodie than I am.

Chicago Gyros and Dogs are in a brand new location on Indian Ripple Road, not too far from The Greene.  Everyone I talked to there was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu.  The new location is clean, spacious and conveniently located.  Since relocating in December, sales have approximately doubled and the place has created quite a buzz.  If you are a big fan of local foodie culinary experiences like you see on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, you definitely should check this place out.

I am definitely a "Triple D" kind of guy and I really like everything Chicago Gyros and Dogs has to offer… the food, ambiance, fair prices and friendly staff all were top notch.  Guy Fieri would be totally impressed.
