5 things you've got to try this Restaurant Week

5 things to try during Restaurant WeekThe Miami Valley Restaurant Association’s annual Restaurant Week is back and big as it ever has been!

The annual chance for local restaurateurs to showcase their stuff returns with Winter Restaurant Week 2016. This time, more than 40 restaurants are participating, showing off foods you won't be able to try many other times of the year. For all the reasons, now is a better time than ever to try local!

Hundreds attended the opening sneak peak Wednesday as several top names in Dayton food showed off their stuff. Here are a few things you can't miss this week:

1. Basil's on Main — Basil's created a Pork Tostada using a fried wonton with shredded pork that was roasted for 16 hours.  The pork was so tender that it melted in your mouth.  If that wasn't enough to satisfy your taste buds, it was accented with chili lime slaw with homemade sriracha sauce to kick it up a notch. 2. Coco's Bistro — Crème Brulee is one of the most sinful desserts known to mankind and Coco's have perfected this delightful dish.  People gathered in line and salivated as they watched the Chef Darin bring out the torch to caramelize the sugar to create that wonderful crust on top of the custard.  Nothing is more satisfying that breaking the crust for that first bite.  Well done Coco's Bistro.  View full menu.

3. Meadowlark — This popular restaurant is always amazing us with the flavors they produce using simple ingredients.  The vegetable pancake with thick cut bacon and house made mayonnaise was a spectacular dish that had us going back for seconds.  Chef Wiley knows flavor and this is the reason why Meadowlark is one of our favorite places to dine in Dayton. View full menu.

4. Salar — Quinoa stir fry - it's hard to know what to do with the grainy quinoa sometimes, but Salar found the right idea with a stir fry, topped with plenty of veggies and an overall delightful crispy texture. You'll want to try it at home!  View full menu.

5. Park City Club — This restaurant didn't pull any punches with its first time in Restaurant Week. The new Kettering concept, brought to you by Roost Modern Italian's Dana Downs, brought out a spicy chicken wing recipe with gradual, but assertive, heat. You'll want a nice local beer to cool it down!  View full menu.
