7 Things to Look Forward to around Dayton in 2016

It's New Year's Eve again ~ time to look back, forward, and plan for 2016. I'm concentrating on looking forward. How about you?

7 Things to Look Forward to around Dayton in 2016

The recent (though very late) arrival of winter has me daydreaming about long sunny days, looking ahead, and making plans for the New Year. Here’s a short list of 7 things I’m looking forward to. Are you looking forward to any of these? What would you add?

  1. The bi-annual Adventure Summit returns to Wright State February 12 & 13 bringing speakers, activities, competitions, and an expo. You won’t want to miss it either!
  2. Monday February 29th ~ we all get an “extra” day this year ~ Yes, I know it’s a Monday, and you probably have to go to work or school (so do I), but it’s my parents Wedding Anniversary. They’ve been married 52 years and and this is only their 13th Anniversary ~ so put a smile on and celebrate with us already!
  3. The return of festivals and farmers markets. Thankfully, 2nd Street Market ~ voted Ohio’s Best Farmers Market again for 2016 ~ is open year round.
  4. The arrival of Disney’s The Lion King! The production will be in town June 7 - July 3. There’s no other show like it ~ I can’t wait to see it again!
  5. The opening of the 224.000 square foot Fourth Building at the National Museum Of the U.S. Air Force in June 2016.
  6. The completion of the Riverscape River Run project. Construction was kicked off on July 8, 2015, and is expected to be completed in one year.
  7. The possible completion of the I-75 modernization project through downtown Dayton. The construction company will receive a $3 Million bonus if they complete the project in September 2016 (1 year ahead of schedule). That sounds like great incentive to me!
