Holiday Trees Taken at Both Montgomery County Solid Waste Facilities
After the holidays are over, what do you do with the tree? Now through January 31,
2012 Montgomery County Solid Waste District will take the leftover live trees free of
charge for recycling at both facilities. The trees should be free of ornaments, tree
stands, nails and plastic bags. These trees will be recycled into mulch by a local
contractor. Montgomery County residents may bring in up to three trees per vehicle for
recycling at no charge through January 31, 2012. Additional trees and general trash and
solid waste will be charged at the standard rates.
The Holiday Tree Recycling Program is popular because it offers citizens an easy and
environmentally sensitive way to dispose of their trees after the holidays and saves on
landfill space.
The Montgomery County South Solid Waste Facility is located at 1001 Encrete Lane in
Moraine and the North facility at 6589 Old Webster Street in Vandalia. Hours of
operation are from 6:00 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday to Friday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on
Saturday. For additional information, please visit www.mcswd.org or call 225-4999
