DAYTON, OH – Hannah’s Treasure Chest (HTC) will hold their 2nd annual Great Diaper Dash throughout April with the assistance of several area YMCAs. The nonprofit’s goal is to collect 24,000 diapers, enough to fill care packages for 240 infants & toddlers.

“We are excited to have twice as many YMCAs as collection partners for our second Great Diaper Dash,” said event coordinator Trudy Bechtolt. “With their help, we hope to double donations from 2016 and make a real difference for the families we serve.”

The collection of diapers and Pull-Ups will take place from April 1-30 at participating area YMCAs. Drop-off bins will be available at all locations. Diapers in size newborn, 1, 4 & 5 are most needed.

Participating locations include:

{C}·        Atrium YMCA, Middletown

{C}·        Coffman YMCA, Springboro

{C}·        Downtown Dayton YMCA, Dayton

{C}·        Fairborn YMCA, Fairborn

{C}·        South YMCA, Kettering

{C}·        West Carrollton YMCA, W. Carrollton

{C}·        Xenia YMCA, Xenia

{C}·        Y at the Heights, Huber Heights

Monetary gifts may also be made online at www.hannahstreasure.org or mailed to Hannah’s Treasure Chest at 124 Westpark Rd, Centerville, OH 45459. Every $1 donated will buy six diapers at wholesale to help close the diaper gap for families in need.

“The National Diaper Bank Network’s research shows that one out of every three families in America has experienced diaper need,” said event coordinator Trudy Bechtolt. “When I heard that families frequently have to reuse a disposable diaper to make their baby’s supply last, I knew we had to help.”

During the first Diaper Dash in 2016, Hannah’s Treasure Chest received 12,800 diapers, several containers of wipes and other products, and approximately $1,000 in cash. The drive supplied enough items to assist nearly 160 infants and toddlers during the two months following the event.

Located near Centerville High School, at 124 Westpark Rd., Hannah’s Treasure Chest is open to receive donations from 10-4 PM Monday through Thursday. Bagged or boxed items may be dropped in the large, blue bins out front at all other times.
