Bike Miami Valley named a Gold Level Bicycle Friendly Business

With the announcement of 100 new and renewing BFBs today, Bike Miami Valley joins a cutting-edge group of more than 1,050 local businesses, government agencies and Fortune 500 companies in 47 states and Washington, D.C., that are transforming the American workplace.

“The business community’s investment in bicycling is playing a central role in making the country a safer, happier, and more sustainable place to live and work,” said Amelia Neptune, League Bicycle Friendly Business Program Manager. “We applaud this new round of businesses, including Bike Miami Valley, for leading the charge in creating a bicycle-friendly America for everyone.”

Bike Miami Valley encourages bicycling as an easy option for transportation and provides amenities such as Link, a bike share system, and advocates for better bicycling facilities in the Miami Valley.

“While we provide many outward facing programs to the community that encourage bicycling, you have to lead by example in the workplace. That’s why we only provide mileage reimbursement for trips over 5 miles to encourage more bike trips. We also have a casual dress code policy, and we allow our team to bring their bikes into the office,” says Laura Estandia Executive Director of Bike Miami Valley. “It all ties back to creating a more sustainable, happy, healthy work environment.”

Moving forward, Bike Miami Valley will have access to a variety of free tools and technical assistance from the League to become even more bicycle-friendly. To apply or learn more about the BFB program, visit the League online at www.bikeleague.org/business
